From my understanding, you only need to have them recertified if you are running 11.49 or faster.  They will basically check the stitching/latches on the belts to make sure it's still good.  I don't know where you need to send them though.  I think they need to be sent back to the manufacturer.

If you are running safety Harness in your car regardless of speed, They have to be recertified. It is cheaper to buy new ones... $89 to $200 depending on the style you want..

There was a change recently.  Slower cars don't have to recertify evey 2 years.  I can't remember the cutoff, Darren K knows.

Hey Josh.

There is a guy out here in Alberta that does belt recertification.  His company is called Elite Belts.  He charges 60 bucks to recertify belts, or 130 for new ones with lever lock.  He said the cam lock ones are around  240, as the hardware is much more expensive. I'm going to see him today.  Here is is contact info

No.
I asked Darren K about this (he went through this years ago).  It used to be that your stock 40 year old belts were good until you went faster than 11.999.  Then you had to have a roll bar and 5 pt belts, and the belts had to be certified every 2 years.  If you stuck the roll bar and 5 pt belts into a slower car, it didn't matter, every 2 years.

Finally they figured out this silly rule disuaded people from buying good belts, so they relaxed it.  About 3 years ago they also moved the cutoff from 11.999 to 11.499 requiring the roll bar and belts.  And, if you are slower than 11.499, your belts are good indefinitely as long as they are in good shape.  Faster than 11.499, recertification is required every 2 years.

I recall the belts Rick found for his 54 have 1973 dates on them!  Since the car is only 12s, they are good for many years to come.

As for the motor, I just freshend it up with new bearings, rings and a new set of cylinders (DRD long barels) and set the compression at 10:1

here's it sitting, just itchin' to drop in and make some noise

Who sells these at $89.00?  Do you?  What kind of buckles are on them.
