ok, so did valve covers, ect ect, got one oil return line on and went to do the second but its different (i dont know why but it is)
so here is what happens when i try to get the line onto the fitting
(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv102%2Famish_rabbi%2FDSCF0079.jpg&hash=dbc6a212d9d8181a91e7e20d3fa1e7d1f200779d)
it gets close but not enough for me to even pull it down by threading it on
but if i pull it out another 1/4\" or so i can bend it down this much
(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv102%2Famish_rabbi%2FDSCF0080.jpg&hash=d9c758bd9320b217b338c452fbc39d77e8cfcc33)
which means i should be able to make it fit on, problem is how.
and here it is without the 45 degree fitting on it

any help appreciated

Where are you located in Langley, maybe I can swing by tmrw
-
im located in abbotsford.
my only idea was to clearance the hole in the tin and try and get play that way, since it works when its a 1/4\" farther out i assume its the metal end on the hose that isnt letting me move the fitting properly
-
looks like breather tubes not oil returns.
good way to do this is have it all connected ,clean the covers to bare metal where the fittings will be welded to.position the assamble to the covers and tack weld it into place.
dissasemble it all.finnish welding the fittings on the covers then just drill through the fitting and valve cover.
-
might be a good way to do it but not an option now that its done :P
sorry, breather tubes, i assumed oil return
-
make sure where the hose goes through the tin it is protected/insulated from damage causing cutting through.
them remove the valve cover, glue the gasket onto it.thread your connections together but just a hair loose so it can spin, then clip the cover back on
-
that might work, force it to fit using the valve cover.
ill go try that right now
-
if it works it was my idea.
if it fails i overheard it somewhere and thought it may help
-
ok, tried it that way and i cant get the one side of the valve cover on properly (side with the fitting)
so i think that means i dont have enough hose and its never going to with the piece i have
-
I don't remember why I had that 45 in there, something to do with the line kinking going onto the empi valve cover . must have been in a slightly diff angle/locaction on the old covers
I'll bring the couple of left over chunks of hose to the victoria show today and see if someone will drag them back to the mainland for you, they might be longer than the one you have
-
it was a 90 but that was even more off than the 45 so i swapped it out. thanks, those could be useful
also have no idea how you got that hose in there, the fittings on both ends do not fit through the hole in the tin
-
I believe I drilled the tin, put the grommets in then slid the hose through and then put the hose end on. so to replace you're gonna cut the end off and start over with a longer hose.
-
whats the number or w/e for the hose? i dont have any industrial places open today to buy more but lordco said they might be able to match the hose if they know the number or what specific hose it is
-
if it works it was my idea.
if it fails i overheard it somewhere and thought it may help
-
no idea what w/e is but if you look at it there are some #'s on it, I think and it's high temp silicone made by parker.
I gave that extra chunk I had to Kirin at the Victoria show about an hour ago, pm him and you can grab it off of him when he gets home.
-
its all good, went out and got some of the same stuff, just cotton braided so i have some header wrap stuff for it instead of the silicone
got 3 feet so i should have enough  now i just have to figure out these hose fittings
-
i just use hose and a clamp with a tube extension welded to the cover ,way easier than messing with fittings up there.
never had a problem with leaks and just loosen the clamp .unclip the cover and remove.
just a thought
-
what type of clamp do you use? just a normal hose clamp or a t clamp?
-
i use some clamps from work but there are very similar to the hose clamps from any parts store.
the tubing i use is a very thin wall and if i remember the o.d is about 1/2\" or a tad larger.
also the hose i run is not just fuel hose but a beefer power steering type hose it take more abuse.
if you end up having a leak from that area after it because you have the wrong pipe/hose combo.should be a nice snug fit.
-
1/2\" was to small to get over the fitting, went and bought some 5/8\" and its tight and not thin walled but its all the parts store had. but i should be able to force it on and then use the pipe clamps to keep it there. 3/4 seemed really to much bigger to use even though it with the fittings easily
is there going to be a problem is one of the breather tubes is 1/2\" and the other is 5/8\"?
-
alright im stuck, been fighting with this stuff for like a week now and i cant get it to work at all.
anyone got some free time or want to help me out? seems like this stuff is above me right now

anyone see an issue with this?
(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fphotos-788.ll.facebook.com%2Fphotos-ll-sf2p%2Fv79%2F21%2F90%2F120604788%2Fn120604788_31383167_4207.jpg&hash=a63eb9bbc5397cadec74db8f303c7222a0f65ea1)
i cant figure any other way to route the hose, if i try and do it straight id have to cut a big chunk of tin out
-
o.k i hate to say it i just did my new valve covers the way i described earlier.must not of taken more than 45 min from start to finnish.
will get a picture up later.
-
issue is i cant weld, so im dependent on someone else for welding
but if i am to redo it (looks probable) are they fine lower down on the valve cover? since that is where id have to put them to have it all fit properly
