ok here is the digs..my motor (1776, FF, 8 doweled) is makin a racket. I tear it down..findings:
- cam gear and main crank gear are both chipped something nasty
I can deal with that...
- cam gear is loose, i can remove the bolts with my fingers and there are no washers (supposed to be?)
I can deal with that...
- the rear main bearing saddle is grooved, will need line bore
I can deal with that
- i remove the main bearing and it is stamped .050
dammit!!!!!!!! I guess the good news is that the pistons/liners and crank/rod assembly is good and the pistons are balanced...oh..and i have a new aluminum case that is not machined...dammit again! At least i will get a seat in the suite at the canucks game tonight...center ice baby..

Good news :(
are you doing to open up the AL case for a larger crank? while you have everything apart?

i think i am going to take one of those short blocks off of Geoff....and move what I can over. The top end is still good, but I would like to go to new heads as well....

good idea. those short blocks are new and aren't very pricey. I'd add in a mild cam and such.
