Title: How To Check Your Oil Temperature
Post by: AlanU on April 28, 2007, 07:10:21 PM
I've posted it on the clf but I'm also posting it here

I've been using the GB227A for many years. Infact I've ordered a new one for a spare since they seem to crap out from time to time (broken spring regardless of never touching the grounding wire)

Forget your raytek gun  ;D I spent some pocket change today!!

When I feel she's getting hot I'll pull this \"tool\" outa my glove box.  The GB227A will be the visual indicator (which virtually NEVER goes on)  and for a piece of mind I'll use my high tech precision testing device to double check  ;D ;D Its aprox 12\" vs the typical candy thermometer.

Keep it simple stupid seems to be a better approach  vs a clutter of VDO guages. Thats just my 2 bits.

I will not put a VDO guage in my car. My fatchick I had use a VDO setup to monitor oil temps but my oil temps NEVER changed. I see no point in adding more clutter. If I ever decide to put an additional guage in my car I'd put a head temp monitor.

For 10bucks USD that thermometer will be a quick and simple stupid test. Since my oil temps literally remain consistant its a quick dumb test to appease the mind.

Cameron gave me this idea. I think its nice to know and not really a need to know. My GB227a oil temp sender is another stupid functional device.

Jag,

Use one of these. Although its not really that big of a fork I dont think its neccesary in your case.
