Darren, his wife Christine and myself met downtown yesterday morning to check out some alloys for sale on The Samba. Parked in the underground, a 1951 Belgian Split..mostly factory paint, 25 HP etc etc. Appears to have less than 100,000 KM on it. Origional bill of sale etc. Rediculous origional condition. It will be sitting next to the 55 next week. Congrats!
-
pics?
-
Very cool!
Congrats Darren!
So did the original owner import it? Or did it belong to a guy that had those alloys?

that's a funny coincidence.
i saw the add for those earlies and noticed that the seller was in vancouver. i checked out his gallery and saw pics of a very cool early bus and pm'd him to intoduce myself. we exchanged some pm's and decided that we'd have to hook up sometime, and then he mentioned that darren had just bought his split.
my response....
\"that darren is one crazy mo-fo.\"
good score and congrats on the new ride darren. just when you think the the steeds in your stable couldnt get any finer, you go and get a kentucky derby winner.

Very cool. Whats the plans?
-
I don't even want to know how much you paid, but it was probably well worth it.
It looks like a fairly perfect all original 51 split to me!
I'd say wax it, clean it as well as you can, drop it and slap in a larger motor!

Perfect! I'd leave everything else stock on that car.
Congrats man!

It needs REAL earlies incl deep 6's. A car of that caliber needs the real deal, not flat 4's.

I'm curious as well, can you make out the sales price on the original bill of sale? Is it matching numbers still? Either way that is an incredible piece of history.
