Thats pretty awsome!!

Needs a complete resto, even though you cant see the grass through the car, it will need new pan halves most likely.
Its pretty much listed at what its worth. i wouldnt pay more then $4000 for it.

rusto-cals long lost brother!

That car was listed on the Samba late last summer. If I didn't already have my 56, I would have seriously considered it. A standard model oval with a sunroof...I can count how many I have ever come across on one hand.
Pretty cool car, but still needs a fair amount of work. I would have to agree on the starting price, and can't imagine what he means by high reserve cause I don't think he will get it.
-
He wasnt asking that much last summer, but he finally took more pictures. I asked for more and he said that he couldnt be bothered. I suppose taking more pictues is worth a \"little\" more money.
-
It still has the old dealership badge on the right rear fender, thats a very cool car. I noticed the 3-spoke but wrote it off as a deluxe because of the ragtop, but then looking at it again, it has a half headliner and no chrome around the windows.
Very cool car indeed. someone buy it and bring it here.
-
his reserve is set at 3000, or it was anyways, there is no \"reserve not met\" text under the price so the highest bid at the end of the auction is going to get it

He states that there is a \"high reserve\" in his description. You are correct though, there is no reserve posted under the price.

Welcome to car selling according to the Barrett Jackson world. Anyone that would pay anywhere near $3500 for that heap is on crack. I paid less than a third of that for my '57 and it was in much better shape at the time. Sure mine doesn't have a sunroof but I don't see a sunroof and a busted dealer badge as $2500 options. This is exactly the reason why it is so hard to find good, cheap project cars any more. Every one thinks they are sitting on a gold mine. Well guess what? It's a rusty piece of sh*t until you spend the time and work to make it a gold mine. There is no reason that that car as it sits should go for anything over $1000. Even that is a stretch.
-
The fact is that prices are going up, yes it sucks, i paid $550 usd for my 1960, and if i had the money right now i would pay the 3k for that oval sunroof. Because even though prices are high the fact is that if i ever wanted to sell the oval, i would get my money back. (not if i started or did built it ofcourse)
-
I kind of agree with Bill. It would require a tone of work....remember it has to pass a BC inspection for anyone that would bring it here. Plus there is some front end damage(apron, fender, beam, and possibly a framehead) But on the other hand.....I think back to the build that Stephan posted a little while back....resto Patina beetle...way cool! That Oval would be Bitchin if it where done in that fashion! Maybe it's worth a couple grand to the right person. I'd like to hear Geoffs thoughts on this car!
-
I'd have a hard time paying that much also, especially considering I paid $250 for my oval that was in similiar shape, and had better patina than that one. ;)
I think $1500-$2000 would be a reasonable place to start from especially considering it's a standard model with a roof (if that kinda thing floats your boat, and it will to a lot of americans I'm sure). $3K does sound like a lot but hey they can't be had in every back alley you look in these days, and this has never been molested by someone trying to restore it already.
-
I dont think the car should cost this much, but i think that in this day in age, that is the going rate for that car. Im pretty certain it will sell for that price, the rag top clip, the uncut dash, all the fenders, the W-decklid, i mean theres enough there in parts alone to justify that price if he were to cut it up.
-
I still disagree. There is no way there is $3500 in parts in that car. The fenders are toast, the aprons are toast, rag clip - $300 tops, decklid - $300, oval clip - $200, dash - $100. after you cut all that out what's left, maybe the dented up doors -$100. Even if the interior is good I only see about $1000 in parts there. I just get pissed off seeing POS unrestored, daily driver 74 supers for sale for $5000 because someone saw some fat cat buy his trophy wife a bug for way too much money on TV.
-
so do i
but thats only because i want the supers for cheap
