Title: 4" Narrow Type 1 Beam W/o Shock Towers
Post by: Chris E. on March 10, 2007, 02:24:57 PM
Looking for some opinions on whether or not this is a good or bad proposition. I read that the torsion leaves are ridgid enough w/o shocks on a 4" narrowed beam. Just gathering info right now. Thanks.

It's not whether they are rigid enough, it's that there's no damping the oscillations and it will bounce.  The shocks are just motion dampers.  A beam w/o towers is designed to hop well on airbags/hydraulics for a show car that won't really be driven, or to have shock mounts fabbed on a roll cage that provides a solid mounting point.

Thanks, but I ended up going with a 2" narrowed beam that I picked up from Mr. Constant.
