electric solenoid on the fuel system.  Located in the engine compartment of a type 2.  Under the back seat of a type 1.  Key operated or the one I like is operated by the seatbelt.  Ya think a thief is going to buckle up before he starts the car?

Pull e brake on, shift trans into 1st, and use a padlock with a large hoop around the shift lever and e brake.

If I leave my car somewhere for a long time I just pull out the rotor in the distributer. At least they cant drive it away then.

Another thing that works great is to pull out the coil wire from the cap and switch it with one of the plug wires. Car won't start, but will fire every other rotation of the engine, so it sound like it's \"trying\" but won't actually start.
