does por 15 come in a spray bomb?
if not can anybody on here locally langley surrey area spray it(i would rather not brush it on my beam)

heya russ...not sure I would por15 a beam.  As you know my bus has been por15'd.  It does chip if you do not use the metal prep.  I used por15 underneath then a SEM rubberized undercoating over it. works great.  they sell guns that will spray por15 for like 15 bucks!

I POR'd my beam and it sure looks pretty - I will see how it holds up this summer. I used a foam brush to apply it.

I just applied por-15 to my front beam. It was sandblasted by Mr. Buchan... No prep at all just painted it on with a normal brush. It adhered great.. no brush marks and best of all its damn tough. Can't scratch it at all and I've smacked it with a hammer and almost no mark..
This things going on my \"Driver\" 62 so it will see a lot of crazy conditions.
And won't stay clean for long :P

if your beam is clean from any chemicals, glue, dirt grease or grime, then the por -15 should brush on rather smoothly.  I'd suggest following Kirins method.  a nice sand blast, and then layer on the por-15 nice and thick.  let it dry, clean it, and coat it again!

Actually Stephan - 2 thin coats are best, not thick coats according to the application instructions. Also according to the instructions you need to treat the metal with an etch of some type - I didn't and went on bare metal after media blasting - I have yet to see any ill effects BUT I have heard of others that didn't have the greatest results doing a similar process - time will tell I guess.

I did my gas tank in my 1966.  the coats weren't too think, but they coated very well.  the etch would help the por to settle into the metal better and create a better bond to the metal, but I had no problem with my gas tank.

ok guys..this is what i am tryin to tell you...if you don't use the metal etch, be prepared to lose the por15 on a beam, trust me....

When i POR15'd my new beam, i stripped all the original paint off and then left the beam out in the rain and under the sprinkler for a few days. Just to get some slight oxidation. I then soaked it with the Metal Ready and finally 2 thin coats of POR15 and one coat of POR15 Chassis Black. After 3 years and 10,000 miles it still looks new.
