Anyone out there interested in working one to one with an adult (mid twenties) with autism. This particular client is obsessed with Volkswagens and is an avid toy collector. It is through Langley Association for Community Living which is a BCGEU (union) outfit, so fair wages and benefits  . We need casual, part time, and full time staff. Best suited aplicants would be easy going individuals both male or female. Males with trim moustaches (hitler types  ) are a bit of a trigger JSYK, so either clean shaven, gotee, droopy moustache, or full beard is fine. The individual is high functioning so there is no personal care required (if that's a hindrance to you ;) ). I supervise his program so if you are interested p-mail me and I will be able to fast track your resume to our hiring manager. Even if you know anyone that may be interested please let them know. You automatically have an \"in\" with him if you like VW's (and no it wasn't my doing, his family has always been into VW's - owned ghia's and vanagons). Pay is $17.22/hr + benefits if you (permanently) work more than 20 hours per week. Casual staff get paid a bit more in lieu of benefits, holidays etc., ($18 something/hr).

oh ok sorry.
Basically all we (staff) do is hang out with him, make meals, drive him places, etc. His day is pretty much directed by him. He lets you know when he wants to get going, where he wants to go (usually shopping for ties or hotwheels (OCD component)). We are basically there to help him maintain his routines, and help him out if he gets anxious. He can be (but rarely is aggresive - only one significant incident in the last three years). Basically if you decide you like who he is and he likes you - you can't lose because your work is then just hanging out with someone you like (though there is not much reciprocity in the relationship - It's all about him). ;)
