Title: Any Resourceful Canucks Building T-bars?
Post by: horizontallyopposed on February 02, 2004, 09:21:47 PM
Howdy-ho,

I was looking on the Samba and Cal-Look for some aluminum hex t-bars, and thought I'd check and see if any Canadians were making some, before I send my loonies and toonies to support the war machine

(who is happy it's not -30*C out anymore here so I can actually enter the garage to drill out spot welds on the rear apron.  Oh joy.)

I WAS - For the price they are charging for them ( i think the lowest I saw was 80 us) you are getting an excellent deal.

It takes ALOT of hours to get them perfect.
I'll post a pic of mine tmrw.

As you can see by the pics, I still have some wet sanding/polishing to do - you don't want to know how many hours I have into them :)

Nice work James!

I've personally seen the HEX bar T-bars myself, and they look awesome.  very rare.  if you found a set in the US, I'd say go for it!

Ya those are nice - for the true look you need to have the welds smooth though.

That's Tim Tesnow from the cal-look forums.  Those were the ones I think I'm gonna order (The hex ones).  I don't mind the look of the welds myself.     He also makes tach mounts and gas tank hold downs.  So many parts, so little money

Got my t-bars from Tim Tesnow in Arizona today.  They look super good.  I'll have to take better pics when there's some light cause my camera doesn't do well in low light, and if I used the flash, all you saw was a bright spot in the reflection!  There was a bit of a with the polishing shop, which Tim had emailed me to apologize for, so he threw in a t-bar keychain and some aluminum valve caps (5 of them even!).  Nice guy.

I know some of you said the welds should be smoothed out, but I like them better this way.  The polished stainless allen head bolts with the machined aluminum washers are nice too.

Those do look really nice, really nice welds too. Let me know how they line up and fit once they are on the car, I made my mounting holes slotted so I could adjust as needed if my front end was a bit off.
