Title: Dual Carb Tuning

I'm looking for a person who has a good working knowledge of dual 40 dellorto drla's. I myself know very little and would like to find a skilled person who can teach me and help me sync and tune my carbs.
 
Background: I installed a 1776 into my bug with the dellortos. Car starts and runs pretty good once it is warm. Took it around the block  a couple times and it made good power and ran smooth.

Oh yeah, no hacks please who just want to practice on someone else's car.

Hi Chris,

The two accurate ways of setting up dual carbs are;

1) Pull the spark plugs out, and see what they look like. Here's what I suggest. Go to your local library, and get a book that has nice colour pictures of spark plugs. The spark plug's colour will tell you if each cylinder is jetted rich, or lean. Cheap, but time consuming.

2) Get an air/fuel ratio meter, and install it in your car. Expensive, but well worth the money IMO. To find out more, use the search function on the ASF, up above.

Post some info, about your carbs, and forum members can get you in the ballpark. We need to know jet sizes, emulsion tubes. More motor specs would be nice too.

The engine I got from Buddha Boy, I believe it is out of his green 54. You might be familiar with it. 1776, 110 cam 40 dells.

Any haynes or chiltons manual, (doesn't matter what vehicle) has the spark plug pictures in it somewhere. And a few handy pages on home bodywork too !
