My '67 bug has an adjustable front end (welded in adj.) which looks great when lowered but the ride is really rough. I don't mind a certain amount of roughness but when I hit potholes or railroad tracks it shakes the car pretty good. I thought my suspension was locked up so I took off the shocks and pulled the front end up and down. It seemed fine with no binding. I have tried lowered KYB and stock shocks but the ride is still harsh. Do I have to switch to lowered spindles? Is there weaker shocks I can use? Any advice will be appreciated.

Dropped spindles and a stock style oil front shock will make a big difference. Bruce had a line on some nice ones, maybe he'll chime in...

What brands and models of shocks have you tried?
The softest BJ shocks I have ever seen are genuine VW shocks from the VW dealer in Mexico. I'd let you try mine, but I loaned them to Jim Martin. Hopefully they weren't in the garage when he tore it down!
