Yup it was in the works long before we even thought about closing our store.

It's a sad day when the shops that help keep your hobby alive can't make enough to stay in business. Bow Wow was around a long time......This just means CIP and AVR and a few others will hopefully get more business. All the best to those still out there.

G.

I was just looking for a part that CIP is out of stock on and called BW.  Their doors are still open til the end of the month.

As a former emploee of bow wow in victoria, this is an institution that will be very much missed.
I thank everybody for such a great time.

that's a shame. even tho i only used bow-wow a couple of times, the staff was always friendly and helpfull and they always had what i needed. i just hate it when smaller specialty shops have to close down. i know it's a tough business (because i work at a small specialty shop) but i guess at some time or another all good things must come to an end.

my tool box will continue to wear it's bow-wow stricker with pride.

I totally agree with HansK.
Bow Wow had a long history serving the VW community.
They will be missed.

Bow-Wow is more general import cars than aircooled.  at least thats all i've ever used them for.  I don't think it'll create much more business for CIP just like when Airspeed closed.  The fact is, theres just not enough enthusiasts in Vancouver to support all these specialty shops.

If I was a member of their staff and I used those tools, I would be trying to buy those tools and set up shop somewhere else.

You have to look at cost and effectiveness, How much does the machine shop at bow wow profit on old heads and blocks, As the price falls for new castings old rebuilt ones are just not worth the effort, I good used set of dual ports you could sell for 60 each, now i sell them for 20 if not 10, new ones are 125 each
Try buying valves let alone guides and springs plus assembly and labour for 125.... Its a new world out there. Its really a shame such a time has passed by, If we would have supported local shops more they would still be out there, The internet in small shapes and forms kills buying power, Gross profit and the cost of opening the doors will soon be a thing of the past.....Its a damb shame
I know i wish i spend more with goeff and jim but sometimes you dont think right untill its too late...

They still have lots of parts.  I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon wandering around the shelves to have a look at what they had.  Everything is on sale at pretty good prices.  Doors open until the end of the month.
