Engine intake plugged up with carbon?
-
theres a lot of carbon the builds up in the intakes. you should get that cleaned every 40k or so at the least to keep optimal mileage.
Be cautioned that the sunroof drains in those have a tendency to clog, back up, and cause nasty water leaks... particularly on the passenger side floor boards (it backs up and drains out the pollen filter behind the glove box). You can modify your own sunroof drains though, it is very easy.
That motor is a pumpe deuse, and it only takes 50501 ful syn. oil (~$10/qt). You will void you warranty if you use something else.
And stay away from b100 biodiesel. It will gel in cold weather and clog your fuel filter. b5/b20 blends seem to do alright though..
If it's an auto, there's probably a recall on the brakelight switch. pm me your vin, and i can verify plus get you warranty repair history if you want it.

Look into Amsoil European Car Formula 5W-40 which now meets the VW505.01 specs. See if thats expensive. Its PAO real synthetic I'm assuming since its Amsoil.
Motul and Castrol are the 2 companies fighting to get the most market in North America for that 501 VW spec.
heres a list for you.
