Title: Ida Jetting?
Post by: neil68 on December 01, 2006, 03:13:26 PM
Looking for some ballpark jetting recommendations for 48 IDA Webers.  Our race track is at 3,280 ft altitude and my motor is a 2017 cc (maybe 2175 cc) with CB 044 oval-port 42 x 37, FK8, 1.4's, 1 5/8\" header and 42 venturies came with the IDA's.

Bruce, Alan...?

Thanks,

Neil.

??? Which is it

I would suggest going down to a 40 vent.

Hi James,

I'm toying with putting in the slip-in 94's, but the motor is currently a 2017cc.

I was wondering whether the 42 mm vents might be too big, so I'll keep and eye out for some 40's as well.

Neil :)

Hi Neil,

IDAs usually like a 60 idle jet, but you may be able to go smaller. 55? Higher altitude means lean it out.  You can always take the spark plugs out, and have a look. What do your spark plugs say?

This would be a good reason to finally go out a buy that AFR meter. Xmas is coming! Start throwing out hints.

I bet it will respond nicely to a 60 idle jet.  Is it a 120 holder?

Do you have F7 tubes?  I'd start with a 160 main on the 42 vent.  Top it off with around a 180 air.

Thanks for the replies.  I haven't run the IDA's, so no spark plug readings yet.  Currently collecting a few parts (jet screens, jets, maybe vents, etc) so I might as well order these parts together.

Thanks again :)
