Here Comes The Shiny Bits
« on: September 14, 2005, 05:37:45 PM »

Well its time for another update. As everyone knows things always take twice as long as you expect.
The intercooler took a lot longer than I thought to arrive so it kind of delayed things a bit. The box you see in the pictures will eventually have ice water running through it from a 4 gallon storage tank under the back seat and through a 72 pass cooler with a fan under the pass side rear of the car.The cooler drops inlet temp.by over 110 deg. which means big  HP gains and no problems with detonation. The throttle body is a 70mm unit which should give more than enough inlet air and good driveability. The unit you see in the center of the engine compartment is the blow-off valve which releases pressure in the intake when u get out of the throttle. The turbo is still making boost and it has no were to go the blow-off bleeds that pressure off. The next plan is to build the intake in the engine comp. and mount the water tank and plumb it.I will try to update quicker but building everything from scratch is time consuming. TJ
I can't reach the bottom but I sure bang the sh*t out of the sides....

Wowzers!
I wish I had those mad fabrication skills and the will, and the check book.
Can't wait to see how much crazy power this thing makes....
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Shane's got it right, 2 bad ass cars. One's gonna have crazy power with a turbo and be a little stealth in the looks department and one's gonna have awesome power for a N/A motor with the detail work of a madman

Wow! Tight setup!

I'm curious how the charge cooler is going to get air from?  (Is that right, the outside air will hit the charge cooler, then intercooler? before going into the turbo).

Nice set up, I'm assuming it's a drag only car.  But for a daily driver, I think that turbo would make some good heat in the winter! :)

Jimmy's car will be fully streetable daily driver, thats why he is investing so much time into research for the parts and computer programs to run it. Its gonna be awesome, I want to do it to but putting in another 5000 into my motor is a lot.......maybe one day

Hey,Whatever way you want to go let us know. This whole idea has got me revved up,I love doing something like this were you have to plan out every little detail because in the end it pays off huge. Some of the things that I did to the Hulk were questioned but anyone who has gone for a ride in the car will agree the power is truly nuts.I can hardly waite to see how the cars up here progress in the next few years,we have a killer group of people and some world class cars with more to come.TJ

Way to go Jim.  Definitly  on the wild side.  Nice fabing skills, it all starts with some thoughts,  trail and error, and some extra holding hands to make it fit well.  This must be a business write off too...Lucky guy.

I was not going to let the cat out of the bag there Darren, I personally think the new car is way too nice for the strip... It would be a shame to let the rubber fly on that car.... So build a race car!! ;)

Darrens will make 200 plus without the progressive/ pro fogger NOS set up. Pretty serious electronics for a car with carbs. It can be programmed to start the run with a 20% shot, ramping up to the full 100% where you set it. Them wheelwells are squeaky clean for now.. Yes, it's true, we found a 38K mile 67 in the US that is a starting point for a full out race car.  I'm picking it up on the Tacoma show weekend. You better bet TJ will be involved...
