Narrowed Beam Work?
« on: December 01, 2007, 01:34:07 PM »

I have what I believe to be a stock beam on my 66 and a new narrowed beam wich I acqured. Also have a new front disk kit with spindles and an additional set of dropped spindles.

What would it take to assemble the whole thing? Is that something that I could do in a work table or do I need special tools for it?

in a nut shell, remove the stock beam from your 66, and while it's out and on the floor/bench swap over anything you need off of it (steering box, i cant think of anything else) to the new narrowed beam.

not sure if you have new balljoints but imho, a press is needed for getting those suckers in/out.

also not sure if your new narrowed beam came with shortened leave springs or tie rods or not...but that is something to consider.

new bushings for the new beam? caster shims for when it's installed in the car?

also, a beam is pretty heavy, so watch your back and use a friend and/or a floor jack to help you move it around.
