Cruising Out For Gcvw And Staying!
« on: August 14, 2007, 11:12:33 AM »
Hey everyone,
My name is Michelle and I live in Innisfail, which is near Red Deer, Alberta. I am moving to Coquitlam on Thursday with the cruise out for the Great Canadian show. I am travelling out with the Calgary group from Clubveedub. They suggested this forum as the place to go to hook up with some friendly new vw friends. I am really looking forward to meeting you all and hopefully make some great friends. I drive a pink 58 bug that is actually from Vancouver originally. I have had her about a year now and she still needs alot of work but I love her just the same.

PS I will be looking for work so if anyone knows of something please drop me a line.

See you all soon,
Michelle

Well I have lots of retail experience, worked in the mall for almost all my teens and twenties. Then I worked at the bank as a teller. And for the last year I was an office assistant (read: pencil pusher/coffee maker) at an insurance office. But i'm open to anything that'll pay the rent & i'm a quick study.
I will be staying with family in Coquitlam untill I can find somewhere to get settled and would like to end up in Langley probably.
What did you guys have in mind?

I don't know if the bug used to be Geoff's, I dont think so. The lady I bought it off was named Val I think. As far as I know she had it for a long time.

Maybe pinkishbeetle could post a picture of the 58 so it would ease our suspicions about Geoff's old 58 that was pink. ;)

Well That is definately not Geoff's old 58. I remember when it was a pile of crap sitting up at Sidley Mt. Auto and I walked by that 58 about 20 or 30 times had no idea that it would be as nice as it is now  It had metal scraps welded over the back quarter windows and I never took a second look at it.Oh well hope it has a good home now.. :D

yup, definitely pink.
 :D

OAs down where I work are greatly needed and appreciated. And they sure can make life easier. They don't do coffee and such where I am, they make the office flow smoothly.

welcome to the SW (NW to me)

Well I made it through the mountains. Push starting her the entire way. Thank god for friends. But just couldn't get the new starter done in time to make it for the weekend events.
Do you guys meet as a group anywhere? I'm looking for stuff to do and would most definetely prefer that stuff to be vw related. I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys and I am super sorry to have missed all those events.

The  pink 58 I built for my girlfriend at the time was the one at the show now owned by Mike Fung with the 2275cc and porsche cooling...centerlines and white interior.

Yeah it sure was a beater when I bought it..loaded it into the bed of a pick up with a fork lift and drove home to Vancouver with it...that was back in 1989-90

Lately, a lot of VWs have been invading a local hot rod meeting place on Thursday evenings.  Go to the SW corner of #2 and Blundell in Richmond (you have a map, right?) at 7pm every Thurs eve.

Geoff's 58 \"pink\" beetle is still alive and well with a strong heart.  However I like to call it \"salmon\"

Based on some of the descriptions I've heard of the origins of the car; Geoff you did a good job bringing it back to life. And thanks for the carbs!   :P
