Fitting Doors
« on: February 21, 2007, 06:35:12 PM »
Well I have the irs installed in the pan, the body bolted back down on the pan The lift kit in, the rust all out of the car. The passenger door went back on real nice. Now the drivers door is another story, It seems to be binding when i get it about 3 to 4 inches from closing and if I slam it shut it seems to bind right up. Are my hinges hooped or do I need to shim (or is my door post welded out of place ) hope not (grind ,cut, weld again  :(  )
any sugestions or comments would be appreciated

this is were it starts to bind
Thanks Dave

with the door open, you can take measurements from the a pillar to b pillar (bottom, middle & top) on the passengers side (side that fits) and compare them to your a & b pillar measurements on the drivers side to see if the gap is the same.

how are your hinge pins? with the door open, grab it at 12 & 6 o'clock and see if there is up & down or fore & aft movement.

have you tried to adjust the 6 large phillips head screws (3 top & 3 bottom on the a pillar) to reduce the binding?
