1978 vw beetle... From Brazil.
« on: April 23, 2014, 11:04:44 AM »
 :newbie1:

Hi ! My name is Hugo, I'm Brazilian...  Sorry people, if you thing I need to leave this forum for it, I'll do that.

Why I started a topic here, in a canadian forum ?

Because I hope to visit Canada one day  :)  and I want to learn english, so, if I said something wrong, please, correct me! My english is not good yet...

That's my 1978 vw beetle ! I really love this car!

The first owner was my grandfather, he bought this bettle new, at the local vw dealer in july 1978, near to my house.

So, in 1982 my mother bought the car, and, that always stay in the same family !

In 2003 we decided to keep the bettle in a garage, and, the car was stored there until 2011.

When I was 17 years old (2011), I decided to put the car to run again !

So, that's my car =)

This pictures was when I wash the car immediately after take the car out of the garage. These fog lights was removed.

This picture was when I modified the turn signals.

Later, I bought new 14x5 1/2" steel wheels... Theese wheels are called "SP2 wheels" because that is the wheel of a VW Sp2.

The Volkswagen SP2 was a Brazilian sport car, produced from 1972 to 1976 with 1600 cc air cooled engine.

So, I keep the wheels at the garage, and polish the body ...

And here, My first Vw meeting with my Beetle  ;D

So, I installed an auxiliary lamps, Cibié "oscar"

And here, my second meeting with the volks... Te motorcycle beside the beetle is a "Amazonas" with a Vw aircooled engine :)

The front suspension was dropped :D

All the maintenance, I do it myself :)

Here, a washing the carb...

The engine...

So, I changed the wheels... The rear wheels was modified the offset.

And the engine, received the alternator.

Wheels at the primer...

Painting the wheels...

The wheels mounted in the car...

Raked :)

Lowering the rear suspension...

But, the rear was very low, and, I raised a little...

I installed the rear fog light with reverse lamp by hella...

Today, this is the car :)

Bye ! All you have a nice day :)

Brazilian vw's are different because our factory keep the old project until the end of production, in 1996.
Look our side windows, it are smaller than other vw's around the world :)

hi hugo...welcome to the airspeed forum!! your car looks great and it's neat to see the look progress over time. great work, keep up the good work and keep on posting up pics!!

when you come to Canada try and make sure you come to the west coast in august to coincide with the great Canadian vw show!! it's a wicked weekend long vw party and you wont be disappointed!!

I've always dug the Brazilian scene...it seems to be pretty strong. I especially love the brasilias, the cool looking and different wide 5 wheels, and those 15 windows...badass!!
