2008 Rabbit Key needed? Dealer wants $200...
« on: September 09, 2014, 01:23:53 PM »
I recently picked up a 2008 Rabbit that came with no valet key (No push buttons on it) and thought to get one made. Cap VW wants $80 for the key, and $104 to program the immobilizer. Anyone got a contact online or elsewhere to get one for less? I wouldn't think it would take $104 worth of time to do that????

It's maybe a 10min job. But correct me if I'm wrong needs to be hooked up to the computer. For the programming. With the odd exception to the rule but then you need 2 already programmed keys plus the one you want to program. Even in the aftermarket world the chipped keys aren't cheap. Not like our good old classic Käfer keys!

Do you have a key number ? (Blank key part number) then I could call a local dealer here in Europe to see about price here. Bit doubt it would be less here in CH.

I'd still have to get the immobilizer setup here at the dealership... from what they tell me. Maybe cheaper in Seattle? ;)
