My fuel gauge in my 66 bus is always full even when the tank ain't. When I turn on the wipers the gauge goes to empty until the wipers come to a stop. Is it the gauge, the sender or the operator

Sounds like a grounding problem to me.

Matt,
Check the wires on the wipers and fuel gauge, like James said look for a bad ground or poor connections.
If you can get the wire off the sender, ground it against the tank (or a good ground) and have someone watch the gauge if it goes to full then you know the gauge is fine.

speaking of finding a good ground....there is a shop that i used to deliver too when i worked at napa and a lady had brought her bug in because the turn signals wern't working properly. well they fixed the blinker problem but at the same time they had noticed that one of the p/o's had installed an aftermarked plain jane radio in it. who ever installed it found a good ground by drilling into the gas tank :o how the sucker didn't blow up is beyond me...the guy was probably puffing on a smoke at the same time.
