OLD VW Adventure anybody?
« on: April 14, 2019, 04:46:48 PM »
I have a '58 Kombi that I need to move from Langley to Abbotsford (or somewhere else in Langley perhaps) depending on finding storage.

Here is where the adventure comes in: I need to move it before the end of April and the kombi is a shell only.. so I need to either lift it or drag it onto a trailer or perhaps a uhaul moving truck. I am looking for a few guys to help me move it. I'll rent a truck and trailer, I'll buy the beer or dinner or whatever.

Let me know!

Thanks
Trevor

I’d make a frame out of 2x4’s with any type of wheels to make it roll easier. Trailer probably the easiest. Not sure how you’d get it out of a truck once you hit it in there? If you did it Saturday before or after dubs in the barn might get more help. I can’t lift right now but could push!

Thanks Brian.

Thinking about seeing if a tow company with a flat deck will do it? Just need to get it up, perhaps with the sawhorses it will be enough of a start?

I've got an old man back too

I can help lift at both Langley and Abbotsford if that helps.  I already drive from Langley to Abbotsford for the craziest little reasons so doing it for a good VW bus salvage cause seems reasonable to me.   I'd suggest trailer just cuz getting guys and your shell into and out of a closed U-Haul truck seems tight.   What heavy things have been removed?

Thanks George. Appreciate the support.

There is nothing heavy left. No motor, no trans, no beam and zero interior. It does have a couple doors, but otherwise this is a bare shell.

Keep you posted.

Looks like I have found storage in Langley. So potentially all happening within Langley/S Langley. Trying to do a flat deck pick up Saturday AM. Any preference on times? What time is the VW swap?

Thanks guys

That would be my only concern:  As long as we don't run into the Dubs in the Barn event.

Personally, I'm a very early morning person and I'd like to balance this with getting to the show when it opens so I'm wondering about maybe 8am?   Is that too early?   How many does it take to lift it?

Thanks Alp, Brian. Really appreciate your offers.

Looks like this will happen on May 4th now. A lot of moving parts.

On that note.. where is the swap tomorrow? Cloverdale?
