Title: Headliner
Post by: s3racing on May 14, 2015, 12:10:26 PM
This might seam like a silly question.
I can't find the headliner color and material that i want for the year I have. Will a Cloth Headliner from a  60 - 62 Car fit properly in a 75 Standard?
Or a vinyl headliner from a 63 - 67?
Or is there a company that offers more color and material options other than what originally came in the cars?

thanks for any tips

Cheers Rene

So which "standard" do you have.  Custom model or Basic 110.  Custom had the full headliner and the Basic 110 the center roof only postage stamp version.  Basic 110 also had no flow through venting and hardboard door panels.  Many other differences as well.

It was produced for the Canadian Market, and had a complete headliner door posts and all. In perforated white vinyl until I pulled it out :-)

Had hardboard door panels and flow through venting, was made in Mexico for the Canadian market. Was originally a Fi engine. Does that help?? Just need to know if I can use an earlier headliner. The goal is not a factory look. My car is far from factory. Thanks for your help

The whole upper body/roof area was different pre 65. Later door posts were slimmer and windows larger. You need to talk to Sewfine in the US..  They will have options for you.

Someone must have installed that later.  Originally they had fake leather grained straight white vinyl.  I recommend just to use a stock replacement headliner to fit a 75.  It's just a headliner.

No, your car is German made. The "Mexico" stamps you see are just those panels that were made in Mexico then shipped to Germany for assembly.  (Deck lid?  Front apron?)

Thanks Bruce, the vin search I did confused me because it had a manufacture code tha says Germany but says Mexico also on the stickers in the car.

It's just I would like a grey headliner and the stock is white or black. That's why I'm asking but Sew fine makes them in whatever material. So I'll get my wife on the material choices etc. :-)but it's good to know its a German car after all :-) cool
