Floorpans and running gear
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:14:52 AM »
Just wondering out of curiousity what are the differences between the pre 1970, 1971 to 72, and 1973 to 79 floorpans in the standard beetle? could you take a pre 1967 body and put on a 73-79 floorpan? Thanks

The perimeter shape of all floor pans are the same.  The seat mounting is why they are different.

A 67 body will only fit a standard Beetle floor pan.  Not a Super's pan.

so I could take a 1974 standard beetle rolling pan and put a 1967 or earlier body on but I would have to use seats out of a 1974 beetle?

That's correct.
To put the early body on a 68 or later pan, you must modify the one body mount under each rear fender.  Otherwise everything else is bolt on.
