« on: May 17, 2008, 08:23:20 AM »
Looking for somebody or a shop that will lower the rear of my 1964 beetle.

Why would you do this?  My post following this is because of the axle tubes being to low. Does this solve that problem?  Thanks

You can raise or lower your car, maybe your car is too high.

Been there done that,  That is why my axle boots keep busting up on the frame.  I have those things turned up.

Maybe my car is too high.  It probably is.  I have huge tires on the back and they hang out of the fenders.  When I was hitting bumps the tires would grab on the fiberglass fenders and bust them up.  My thought was lift the car some more and the fenders will not keep busting on the tires.  Sounds great but the axle boots are so tight to get inbetween the axles and the frame that it is a very difficult job to change them and they are not lasting.  That is what I am talking about.  So as if figure it I can lower the car and rub the fenders or change the tires and lower the car again.  That's what I think.

However I was wondering if there was another option?  Maybe someone has a brilliant alternative out there.  So that is what I am talking about.  Appreciate the help.

Lower it a bit, then put in stiffer torsion bars to reduce the travel.
