Title: installed adjustable rear spring plates
Post by: kustomkreations on August 16, 2012, 06:32:36 PM
hey guys im building a 1960 bug right now some of u mite now of it (bought form vwboop).  I installed the rear adjustable springplates but noticed that the torsion bar seems to be sitting pretty deep on the splines of the spring plate? Seems like the torsion can float back in fourth just not sure if this is ok or if i should centre the torsion bar on the spring plates?

thanks and will post build up pics soon!

Did you get the correct spring plates? There are multiple lengths of Torsions over the years and caps/bars/plates all have to jive.

Post a pic of the issue you are having

yeah i believe that setup is right as i have a 1960 and thats the year of torsion bar they recomend.  Once i torqued the spring plates on i pulled them off again to check and the one side is almost flush with the splines and the other there is about half inch of the spring plate spline showing.  i belive that shoud be ok it seemend allot more b4 i put the spring plate cover on but it must have pulled it in more when i tourqed the covers on.  so i hope that its ok.
