This is my 1972 standard swingaxle beetle today.

And this is what it is going to look like (one day) IF I'm ever able to find a job again in this economy and save up enough to do everything I want to it.

Thanks Geoff,
You would think being a licensed automotive tech would make it easier to find a job but nope, at least not here in the Okanagan. I've applied for a few jobs on the coast, but most of them don't like the fact that I don't live down there. I think I had better luck finding a job when I wasn't licensed, go figure!

We should start our own VW shop.

I would love to do that especially cause then I would be able to take time off when needed to be with my wife for dr's appointments and surgeries and such and not have to worry about possible losing my job, but it takes money to do that and not being able to find a job in over a year has put a bit of a strain on that as well. If somebody gave/loaned me the money to start up a shop i would be all over that in an instant!

I hear that. Been on disability for 9 years, but I'm working on it. Last time I worked pulling wrenches was '98, but I love working on cars. Good luck, hope you find work soon.
