Bleeding Fuel Lines?
« on: February 11, 2004, 11:08:55 PM »
79 FI 2.0. girlfriend ran it out of gas on the alex fraser bridge; now it falls on its face when you need to accelerate, ie: on the highway, accelerating after  a corner.
If you feather it it comes back, but you gotta be gentle.
i dont like gentle.
i want my old van back.

are the lines pressurized after the pump? what steps do i take to bleed the system? i know about the screw on the metal line (7mm) in the engine compartment. when do i get to turn it?

would someone care to enlighten me?

I don't think you need to bleed it. I've run out of gas a few times with  F.I. and never had a problem.  I wonder if you may have stired up something from the bottom of the tank . Might be time to check the screen in the tank and a new filter aswell . Could also turn out to be some thing totaly unrelated to this incident , points , vacume hoses, etc.  Hope this helps.

btw , that 7mm srcrew is for testing fuel presure.( remove it , hook up gage, run motor, check presure)
