Hey James, I'm not a retirement expert either, but sadly I'm starting to think more and more about those things. I was just thinking that maybe you had a pension underway with your current employer (provincial OHS, municipal or private?). Some retirement plans let you "retire" at 20 years, though the penalty is a little higher you are able to draw a meager wage based on your contributions. I guess if you've been working for a private company it's possible that you have a self directed retirement plan and you can just continue doing what you're doing.

Again, I want to apologize for getting into your business but because I'm such a chicken when it comes to long term employment, I cringe when I hear these kinds of "plans".

I also understand that only with big risk come big rewards.

I won't be rewarded anytime soon!

All good Chad - My day job has been in the SHEQ field for the last 15 years and I have always worked for large companies such as Seaspan, SMIT, Maple Leaf, COLAS etc..

Im 37 so "real" retirement is a number of years away and wth 10,000 baby boomers retiring a day right now and big portion of those not having enough money put away I have decided to make my own money worry about the market crashing yet again and wipe out peoples' dreams.

I've got a plan, Im executing it and to date it is working. The whole reason for this thread in the first place was to show others what I am doing and see if anyone else was looking for something on the side or something bigger like I am doing.

This thread serves a few purposes:
1. it lets people who know me see what I am up to these days
2. it exposes people to a business opportunity that is working for me and could do the same for them

All good Ray - I think this thread has pretty much run its course anyway and a number of people have been in contact with me.

If you have a look you will see I've been a member of the forum since the beginning and I've posted alot here. I took the last couple years off to persue interests other than VW's and am now starting to get the itch again....

Sorry Chad - I am not sure what your pension has to do with Qivana and I am not a retirement expert. With Qivana you are an Independant Business Owner and as such you need to file taxes as being self employeed and are able to recieve the benefits of being self employeed such as tax write-offs and expenditure allocation. I also run another business that is fairly successful and have a good accountant and lawyer if you are in need of someone in that field.

James, What's your other business? How can you "swing" two businesses successfully? Hell I work for the man and barely have time for myself never mind a second job. Good to hear that you are doing well and there is life after VW's

My other business is a website - been running for a little short of 3 years now and is doing very well.

I don't like a 3 hour round trip commute so having been looking outside the box and have been having some success. Long hours now gives me ample of down time later!

Sounds good! Are you letting people in on that website or are you "day" trading. Takes money to make it though. I hear ya with the commute, more time off the road means more time with your family. Sometimes you have to give some to get some and in the end it's all worth it. Anyways again, good to hear you are doing well.

Actually my site is not mainstream so I dont really share that I own it...

It is the largest and busiest of its type in Canada and is currently making big gains in the US so I am pretty happy with it. Development/Costs/Time etc it was well worth it.
