WTB - Forged early style beetle Pedal assembly
« on: March 17, 2015, 12:30:15 PM »
I'm looking for an early Forged / Cast Iron Beetle Pedal Assembly complete and in good shape.

If you have one for sale Please send me a pic and Price.

Mine went missing over the years and many project moves, and now we need one to resemble my Car :-)

Location Preferably in the Vancouver area that I can arrange pick up or drop off to Geoff.

Thanks for any help.

René

You want the oval era one with the roller pedal? I got two. One with roller pedal and without.
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Kirin,

honestly not sure on the years of production. Geoff said that I should look for the early ones that were forged not stamped steal as they are beefier and don't crack lol me that later ones do. If you could send me a quick pic or two I'll forward them to Geoff to see if that's what we are after. I'd prefer the non roler pedal but it's no big deal as I can always change the gas pedal.

Thanks Kirin

Hay Russ :-)

Pan and parts just got blasted and Geoff is starting mocking up and welding:-)

Still uncertain about the colourof the Pan and small parts, Fire engine red is a risky Bold colour combo it either looks great with the body colour or ??? And im still discussing the body colour with the Wife lol. Green she doesn't like hmmm but luckily that is still a choice i can make down the road just not the pan colour that I need to make pretty quick now.

to bad its not a complete assembly just the gas pedal Russ :-) lol

what year is your car?
Geoff just means cast like this

as opposed to stamped like this

they are easy enough to find

as for pan colour it really doesn't matter, you barely see the damn thing
I just did mine the other day in black cherry for the hell of it

Beware, a pedal assembly from an oval only fits an oval.  He'll need a 58 and later assembly.

Thanks Kirin,

I opted for the more custom version and ordered the Wilwood pedals. Saves some time on rebuilding them. Thanks though for digging them out!! Looks like Bagged oval is looking for a set though :-)

I'll post some pic's in the build thread when we have them in to show what we all ended up having to do to make them work. Beetle master won't work. So picking up a pair from mopac. Anyone need a new stock brake master cylinder ?? :-)

Thanks again Kirin.

Russ you motivated me to stick to my original plan :-) I like the job you did on yours!! Looks great. So fire engine red it is for pan, beam control arms front and rear. Small parts are all gloss black to bring in a contrast. :-) it will turn out great!!

both mine look like this. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1759343
The pedal assembly in this ad only fits a 57 and earlier chassis.
Note the business end that extends inside the tunnel.  See how long it is compared to the other assembly Russ linked to?  That's because an oval has the clutch tube way over on the right side of the tunnel.
