« on: May 09, 2006, 07:43:47 PM »
I'm sure the stock wheel studs aren't long enough ( Audi 16x7 et45), also I'm sure I'll have to run some spacers say for the speedo cable or ?...so what length and nerl size should I be looking for...thanks

oh yeah...68 bus with late 71-up disc front, drum rear...Audi 16x7 ET 45 wheels...front beam will have adjusters...I'm trying to gather all parts before I take it apart...Now I know I'll have to install wheels to get offset/spacers right before I buy...but I'll have to install longer studs before hand but how long and what nerl size, I know 14mm...Thanks

well you will have to measure the depth of the holes on the wheels, that would be a start and possibly look at maching the inside of the wheel to clear the dust caps and lip on the rotors.

Best ones to use are Porsche 911 studs. Go to a wrecker and tap out the studs from a 911 or 944, these are a direct replacement for the bus (check that they are the long ones as compaired to yours). Or buy them from Porsche for some crazy amount like $12.00 ea!!!

Yeah, machining is a must for at least the fronts.  I had all 4 done so I can rotate the tires.  Had the work done at Green's and was happy with their work and price.

Hey there, I had an issue with studs too when putting on some 16s from an audi. I pressed out all and moved the front to the back (The front is slightly longer) and then bought a set of 'race style' press-in wheel studs from Mopar - pretty cheap, they were long ford style studs. Seems to have worked alright.
