Solution To Worn Lifter Bores
« on: August 03, 2003, 04:11:55 PM »
After the hungry lifters the debris ate my lifter bores. Heres some pics of the brass/silicon lifter bore sleeves that VW Performance (Pheonix, AZ) did on my engine case. They wouldn't do the job unless my lifters were sent to their shop for fittment.

Once the sleeves were pressed in they had to mill /spot face the end of the sleeve. With my friggen luck steve at VW performance broke his mill when he was doing my case. No sweat my case was just delayed 2 days.

As you can see they've drilled an oil gallery hole in the brass/silicon sleeve once the sleeves were installed in the case.  I had to use a 1/16th NPT plug on the flywheel side to plug the hole that's been drilled. The lifters fit in the sleeve perfectly since they reamed the sleeve for exact tolerances.
