Baja Gets A Lift
« on: November 10, 2003, 01:16:21 PM »
The 80's Baja got a 2.5\" lift this weekend thanks to some thing spindles.
Here is a before shot  with stock ball joint spindles.

Here is a shot of the raised spindle in place with new \"Thing\" balljoints. when installing these you must replace the front brake hose with the longer bus hose as well as a super beetle speedo cable.

Now a shot of the baja with the spindles instaled.

The 2.5 lift gives a lot more room for travel and ground clearance

Instal took about 3 hours total including changing the drivers tie rod and bleeding the brakes.

I've seen this car on the samba for $3500USD obo...and have an Uncle interested    in seeing what it would take to get into Wa.  Might you have an idea of what paperwork must be filed and/or any inspections by the local DMV or perhaps state patrol officers.

Do the pan and body #'s match?  Has it got all four (4) identifying/vin points?

Yes the Baja has all matching #'s and would need a inspection once into WA state. If you want more info please send me a PM.
Thanks.
Geoff.

Going another route...too much paperwork for our taste.  Nice baja though, planning to do one very similar, already got a bunch of parts picked out and the car.
BTW, you wouldn't be interested in selling or trading those 15x7\" wheels would you?
