This coming weekend is VOLKSFEST WEEKEND
« on: September 07, 2009, 05:36:32 PM »
Hi Folks,

This coming weekend is VOLKSFEST WEEKEND -- and the weatherman says it's going to be gorgeous in the Yakima area - sunny, with highs in the mid-80s and lows around 50.   There is shade in the show car area, but not so much in the swap location, so you vendors may want to bring a canopy.

Camping Saturday night at our event location (Moxee City Park) is just $5, but if that's a bit chilly for camping, here's another option:
Clarion Motel, 1507 No. 1st Street in Yakima, is host motel and has rooms available with one king or two queen beds for $65 per night when you tell them you are attenting Volksfest.  Their rooms include a fridge, coffeepot, and hair dryer.  Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-896-7966.  Better do that now!

If you've been to Volksfest before, you know it's a relaxing, laid-back kind of event, but there are lots of things to see and do here.  Shop the swap vendors for that hard-to-find item you need for your ride, or something that would make a great gift for some VW-lover.  Check out the amazing things that people have done to their VWs to make them beautiful.   Have fun entering the games and competitions, or even watching the others taking part.   How often do you get to see two people try to navigate a course on one pair of skis?  And when was the last time you saw the Blindman's Wheelbarrow event?  Tug-A-Bug is a popular challenge.  You'll see it all at Volksfest!

Spectators are free both days, AND the cost is still just $10 to enter your car in the show, and $10 for a swap space as large as you need!  With registration, you are automatically elligible for winning one of the many nice door prizes, like a Bluetooth, or a rolling mechanics stool, for example.   There is a goody bag for those who register (at least until we run out -- we have over 120 of them), and they have some nice things in them this year.  (Late-comers take their chances!)

Drag racing at Renegade Raceway is during the day this year, so the Volksfest Cruise-In Poker Run (with a CA$H prize!) takes place AFTER the drags on Saturday.  There will be activities and prizes at Moxee park all afternoon on Saturday for those not at Renegade -- adults and kids.  There will also be food vendors on the grounds both days.

It's a FUN-time family weekend for people who love and appreciate VWs.  We hope you'll join us for a good time.
