seat cutting

Hey, i am wanting to cut my seats to make lowbacks on my 74 beetle. Any one done this before?  :P
Any tips??

I don't know bugs but I know T3s. They came out with highbacks in 68 but the highbacks were exactly the same size and shape as the lows besides the extra piece on the top. Guys just cut it off, welded in a little straight spanner piece at the top and used 67 seat covers, works perfect, can't tell the difference. Now I can't promise bugs are the same.
