Early T3 transmission in a 66 bus?

I've seen posts about people doing this but can't seam to find any direction. What I'm looking for is getting rid of the reduction boxes on my 66 Kombi. I'm planning on rewiring the bus so it will be 12v. Any suggestions on the best way to do this.

Oh, I may have found a 2L FI bus motor to put in it as well.

To put a Beetle swing axle into a Bus requires using Beetle short axle tubes.  Then you have to extend the tubes so they are the same overall length as the Type 3 tubes you have now.  Use the Type 3 long axles.
You will also need to use a Bus nose cone and hockey stick.

I wasn't planning on using a beetle swing axle. I was going to use a type 3 transmission. So if I do that, I should be able to just swap out the nose cone and hockey stick?

The transmissions are the same. 
You still have to use Beetle short axle tubes, then lengthen them.  Your Type 3 trans just gives you the long axles and the brakes.

Offset spring plates make it easier. $200 with your cores is worth it. Axles will not need to be changes then.
