My 1960 & 61
« on: January 18, 2014, 10:14:16 AM »
I have had alot of vw busses in the past  but this 61 patina was my very first Bug , acquired from the Bakers as a stock looking veedub . Still my favourite bug to date , brought down from the Yukon I believe and brought back to life .
Threw alot of fun and good times I was able to get my 1960 shiny bug , beautiful lil veedub , shiny and rust free , Johnny M , did yet another fantastic job building the bug and it sits tucked away for the winter.
The 61 patina is now gone for awhile to Johnny's , getting some good TLC and will come back home so the 2 bugs can be together .
Currently working on a 70 deluxe bus and ....to add to my ever changing collection and always open to many more .
It's a great life , awesome people and truly , alot of good times in this veedub lifestyle I'm so passionate about.
Cheers !!!

a little history...that little gem was left abandoned until captain kevin collingwood decided to rescue it and build it back up!

poor girl...

a proud papa...

her first big dance...

not quite a centerfold...but a supermodel nonetheless...gracing the pages of international literature (bottom right)...

and now enjoying the island life and her new home and family!!

so great to see she's found a happy home and continues to get some loving! also cool to see she's got such a bitchin stable mate.

nice rides jerry and congrats!!

Thanks Silas , I usually don't get attached to things , however being that was my first bug , the history behind it and most importantly , I got to meet and become friends with some amazing people , like the bakers , Kevin , yourself Silas and the list has grown . Amazing how one little car can open up a world only very few people can ever see .
The moment after I traded it off , I felt horrible and I'm really grateful that I can get it back anytime and in better condition , thanxs to Johhny ;)

Sorry to dig up this post from the past, I know it's getting a bit old.
I stumbled across Westy69's pic collection of this 61 patina.

I now own this car and I'd love to hear a bit more about its history and perhaps even see some old pics?

Just throwing the request out there in hopes to learn more about how this car came from the Yukon and came to be part of my VW tribe.

Thanks all!!

Peace!
B

VWBooP and Kevin know the goods on this bug , all I know is the second I saw it , I had to have it . Great lil bug and it was a lot if fun cruising in it . The guys did a beautiful job cleaning it up , I was able to get it lowered and change it up with parts from the bakers and a couple good evenings with some real good buddies .
I hope to see it this year on the road and at the shows , congrats buds , glad you got it :)

Cheers
