Oil Pump For A 1971 Or 71 Type 1 Engine?
« on: October 29, 2005, 06:27:13 PM »

I believe that my oil pump is either leaking or deffective.  The descriptions available refer to dual relief cases, flat cam,  some of them actually have a conector to a filter. For what is worth, I have no idea what should i get for a daily driven 1600 dp?

Thanks

Emilio

Oil Pump For A 1971 Or 71 Type 1 Engine?

There are 2 types of oil pumps.  One for the 70 and older engines with a flat cam, and the other for 71 and later dished cams.  If your rebuilt engine has a stock cam, it should have a dished stock cam, although it could have a flat cam.  If your engine has a non-stock cam, it is flat since there are no dished aftermarket cams in existance.
You may have to pull your pump to find out.
