74 Steering Shaft Into A 62
« on: March 05, 2004, 09:54:48 AM »
Hey guys.
I'm having some trouble getting my head around it. I know it can be done and it should work but I'm still having some issues with a few problems. As most of you know a 74 steering shaft(Slight differance in column but it doesn't really matter) has a collapsable section. While a 62 does not. Hence the reason I am retro fitting one into mine. Now I know space wise a 74 shaft should fit.. but now heres what I'm wondering. On a 74 shaft there is a coller welded to the upper part of it. Its part of the steering lock my 62 does not have it. Now I'm wondering if I need to get it removed. Also on my 62 there is a bearing that goes at the top of it. On my 74 shaft there isn't one so I'm wondering can or if I can run it.. If anybody has done this before let me know. Cars on a 62 pan and running a kinglink pin front if it matters.

If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?
