This posting is also in wheels/tires. I just installed an adjustable king/link pin beam in my 63 beetle. The car has CB drop spindles and 5.5 or 6 inch chromies with 185/55/15 tires up front( they fit BEAUTIFULLY on the wheels). The problem I'm having, is that the driver's side wheel sits between 3/4 and 1 inch OUTSIDE the fender. The passenger side fits just inside the fender.

Is this a wheel/tire problem or something else?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and thanks!

Does your car have aftermarket fenders? A lot of times they won't be exactly the same side to side (IE - width, fenderwell opening, headlight bucket placement, etc.)

Is the back spacing on the two front wheels the same?

Thanks for your replies. The wheels are identical, and both fenders are original. I did in fact find the problem. I took the new beam out and did some measurements. It turns out, that the beam is actually welded together incorrectly. It seems as though one shock tower is out 1/8 inch at the bottom, and continued to move further outwards. I also found that the torsion bar tubes were different lengths as well. I put the original beam back in with the CB drop spindles, and everything lined up perfectly.

That really strange, what kind of beam is it? I've never seen that before.

It is/was a brazillian beam with berg style adjusters. It was really an odd thing to see.
