I need to set-up/tune my stock Solex dual carbs on my 72 bus.
Are there any decent snail or Uni-syn tools you would recommend?
Thanks.

And I'll borrow it once you've figured it out Phil! ;)

I do like the snail for most jobs, but the Uni-syn is better in a 72 with stock carbs (no upper hatch to peek at the snail through), the Uni-syn is perfect in that application.
Try to find an old real one, the modern ones are sort of OK but they are made in China (need I say more?), the only issue some of the late 70's/80's versions develop is the sight tube is plastic instead of glass and sometimes warps so the bead sticks in it. Swap meets (not just VW ones) and Craigslist are where you need to look, there's hundreds in dear old recently deceased Dad's basement that his non mechanical kids want gone.

Good point on the use of the snail. It would be a challenge to read. There are many Edelbrocks on the market but unfortunately they are made in China, so I won't be buying them. Currently there is a Uni-syn on ebay from the 1970's going for about $40 C$. The seal is dried out, but otherwise looks to be in decent shape.

If you can get a Chinese one cheap enough it can be made to work by dismantling it and cleaning up the casting flaws and changing the crappy seals, kind of stupid to have to rework a new tool but sometimes it's the only option.
