Title: 72 bay sitting since 1975
Post by: driverfound on December 05, 2015, 09:50:34 AM
My newest Vw. A 1972 panel. I've tried to buy for 15-17 years.  This week it finally became mine..

very cool!

PS: Whats the mileage since it was never driven?  Is there a neat story as to why it was only used for 3 years of its life before being parked?

Original owner confirms this is actual and correct

Very cool!, wow, LOW mileage!

But why was it parked? seems strange to me!  Drivetrain failure perhaps?

Is the body rusty?

The original owners wife had a vending machine business and he bought her this van to use for The business.  She hated that it didn't have windows and found it hard to see.  She backed out of the local greyhound and backed into a parked car.  Drove home and he bought her an American madevan with windows the next day.  It hasn't moved since. It was a driveway to their house but they re-routed the driveway and the rest is history.

I often think I shouldn't clean off the lichen and moss and just run it as is.  Would look hilarious rolling into a show all lowered and woodsy looking.

The inside was mint until cmsomeone rolled the window down a few years ago.  Still looks pretty good tho.
