Restoration project
« on: November 29, 2014, 01:06:52 PM »
My Neigbor approached me in the summer he saw I'm a vw nut asked me if I was interested in another one. I told him I would have a look and see what he is offering, turns out it is a complete 54 ribbed doors, semaphores ,extra motor but very rough. He will sell only to somebody who is going to restore the car. Here is the deal ...this car is not to be parted out, I could do that. I will entertain willing candidates and see who would be the best fit for saving this car. Then I will introduce who ever to my Neigbor.

I am not making any money here as I would like to see the car returned to the original state as well
Rat rod guys need not apply.
Cheers

Wow...
There is a lot of interest in this car and I will be as honest and fair as possible. The car is pending on a decision by to be answered by Friday. I will send pics to all who have asked me to on Friday ,should the first responser to my thread drop out/decline to answer by Friday it will default to the next in line.
I have received pm' s from people who did not respond on the thread so I will move in order from first to last.
Very hard decision as there are many good vw guys and homes to choose from sorry the delay just trying to be fair.

Thanks to all who responded here. The car has been sold to the first person to respond to me. He let me know that he will take the car tonight, so we did not have to wait till Friday for a answer .

I won't sell this one. I had a 54 years ago and sold it in mid resto and regretted it ever since. Glad I was able to get another to finish it

Last I saw it was fully disassembled and he was doing metal work. He has amassed some top quality parts and will eventually have a kick ads car.

Seemed like a simple request, I passed Bruce's new number on to the original owner, I've figured out he still has it but not much progress.

See u all at the Canadian

Hey all sorry for don’t get on her much right now. Busy life has slowed up progress on the car. It hasn’t been sold or anything like that. I have a very busy job and a new family that takes up my time. I work on it when I can. I have all the proper rust repair sheet metal from Finland that I’m slowly sticking back in. The car needs a lot of metal attention which I hope to get completed for next year. I’ll post some pics when I have time to drop by my shop and take some

Here are some pics of the car. It’s fully torn down . Pan has been stripped of pan halves and is awaiting to get blasted and repaired then powder coated. The body is in bad shape but fixable that’s why I’ve welded in a jig inside to keep the body from flexing as I repair all the bad areas. Where the car was stored it took a toll on the front and rear clips from weather exposure. The front firewall is rotten and the usual early oval rear heater channel and support areas are rotten. This car is getting nothing but the best repair metal so I ordered about 3,000 dollars of repair pieces from mika in Finland who owns restoration panels . Com. Slowly I’ll be sticking her back together. I have a -5 month old so with work it eats most of my time. Here’s some pics . The goal is to restore it back to stock form with bumping up the factory 36 hp with the pleasant kit and lowering it slightly with Porsche Fuchs wheels for a tasteful cal look car. Pics aren’t loading I’m working on making the file smaller

Once it’s stitched back together it will be out for paint to my paint guy I’ve used on the last few cars I’ve built for others. Don the old owner will be the first person to see it then

I understand how projects can take longer than anticipated, God knows I'm guilty of that!
Looks like it's coming along nicely
I'm glad to see it is in good hands
