here's another cool old bdsc found on thesamba.com posted by kintail with the description...

Quote
This '53 Single Cab was owned by John Eschenlohr, VW Canada National Parts Manager. John was there from VW Canada's official start in the late '52 and into the '60s. There is an early Eberspacher gas heater installed under the front seat and a couple of years ago I came across a VW Canada workshop bulletin of the same gas heater personally signed by Mr. Eschenlohr. This original bulletin had to go to Craig Allen of Toronto, who has since completely restored the vehicle, to complete the circle.

here is one i found today that i'm really digging...

1971, vancouver, greyhound bus station at the corner of cambie & dunsmuir. photo by richard watson.

if we zoom in a bit (second pic) we see that that sweet 21 window deluxe has the same logos as the big buses! probably used as a shuttle or maybe for the mystery trips every sunday!! it also appears to be a one colour deluxe...possibly the rare lotus white top & bottom from the factory? or was it painted to match the top colour of the big buses? either way...there is a lot going on in this pic, and thats a cool bus & a cool slice of local history

My late Father-in-law was a driver of those 21 windows. He convinced Pacific Stageline to purchase a few to do city tours.

allright...so it looks like we lost some pics during the great asf website crash-ola of 2019...anyone that wants can try and do their best to rebuild and restore the lost content!!

but for now we'll get it fired up again with these gems...

alec merriman

a legend from bc, canada. fishing enthusiast, writer, adventurer, outdoorsman, greater victoria sports hall of fame inductee and barndoor owner!

^^ pics & vid originally posted by EverettB in...

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81089&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

plus a couple extra pics i found somewhere on the www...

^^ hard to see, but the blurred images on the right side of the bus match the logos plus the boat on the roof, and it looks like maybe this pic was taken at the same time as the other beach shot above...

It was Brett Walkers single cab, picking up the Porsche for his friend Dave who was involved in Porsche wheeling and dealing. Brett figures the Porsche was quickly flipped, late 1980’s

In 1972 while going to the U of Manitoba, I found a retired  MTS bus in a barn northeast of Winnipeg.  It was fairly rough with beige sides and brown roof.  Belly pans were installed I was told to keep the mud from packing up underneath.  Passed on that one but found a 63 rust free Kombi at the local Datsun dealer a few weeks later.  One owner.  Motor was not great but the price was right -$380.

When searching for MTS VW busses, I found this:

A band bus in and around Winnipeg circa late 60's early 70's.  Very similar to the one I looked at.
