Title: Split Bus Irs Shocks

My 65 bus has was converted sometime back to beetle irs rear suspension. I read in an article in Hot VWs that 944 shocks can be used for this conversion by relocating the bottom bolt holes slightly to the rear, and using the stock bus top mount. I went into a couple of auto parts stores to ask about shocks, and they wanted to know what year porsche, pre 85 I think, or later. Anybody gone thru this before? Also could Airspeed get these shocks in? Thanks, Jacob.
