1960 euro panel (double door conversion)
« on: August 08, 2011, 05:24:07 PM »
My name is rob. I live in fort St John. I acquired this van from a friend a year ago. I had a chance to buy it 10 years ago before him but let him have it. He is a teacher who was letting his mechanics students take it apart and help 'restore' it after a few years of sitting in a school compound 1/2 disassembled he took it home to rest on his property where he let's me keep my bay window parts vans.  I brought it home about a year or so ago and started to buy suspension and see what was missing. So far I have a type 3 transmission, narrowed beam, wolfburgwest dropped spindles and trailing arms (I even bought a set of WW air bag trailing arms -just in case)

As I was purchasing suspension parts I was building a rotisserie and  looking for the drivers side B-pillar on thesamba to replace the damage that was fixed poorly sometime between 1960 and the last time it was plated in BC (1971)

Here is a picture of the van from 2000 when I first found it.

i wish that b-pillar wasnt so messed up.  the rest of the van is surprisingly dry.  im going to order a gerson dog leg and try and find a straight door before i attent to weld in the double door b-pillar..

I ordered the birth certificate to try and learn a bit of its history. it was delivered to kassel, german in primer 'grund' and some how made it to northern british columbia.  it last saw the road in 1971...

my progress
