hi all,
i broke the cross shaft on our beetle (57 with a 1776 and a later style trans)
i just replaced the cross shaft with a heavy duty one and new pressure plate, disk and throw out bearing.
after putting it all back together i have no end play on the clutch and it is backed off pretty damn far on the cable end.
what would cause this? does the heavy duty cross shaft sit at a slightly different angle meaning i need a longer cable?
any ideas would be great thanks guys
russ

does your new pressure plate have the ring in the center?

Do you know what year the trans case is?  Which cross shaft does it have?  Does it use the late TO bearing with the guide tube, or the early floppy TO bearing?

don't know the year of the trans but it does not look ground out so i would say 12v
also it does not have the guide tube
