Wiseco 94 pocketed pistons?
« on: November 21, 2009, 05:54:40 PM »
I'm increasing my cam lift and CR on my 2332 cc, such that I'll need to use valve pockets.  My 94 Mahles were balanced by drilling under the piston crown by the seller, without my knowledge >:(  Therefore, I'm reluctant to try notching these pistons, take a look at how deep the drilling was in this picture:

So, I was considering using Wiseco 94's or possibly the AA's.  Any recommendations from your experience or those you know who have used these kits?

Thanks!

first i would make sure you really need to notch your pistons .have you measured the lift and valve to piston clearance ???
ie , when i ran a 86c with a hair under .600 lift and 10.5 :1 compresiion i still had 0.220 " piston to valve clearance .
if you are not sure of the correct way to do this let me know

Hi Jim,

My 044 heads have been flycut twice and when I clayed the pistons with the 86C,there was ~0.120" valve-piston clearance.

So, I'm thinking with my Web 226, it may get below 0.100".  I will clay again and see how it looks.

Thanks,

Neil.

Be sure to measure the Exhaust Valve clearance ( it will hit the piston before the Intake in most cases )
